Ways to Promote Peace in Politics
Conflict between political parties is nothing new. It has always existed, and although it may always be active, the hope is to reduce it by promoting peace.
The best way to start promoting peace is within your own life. Treat all people with dignity and respect. Remember the golden rule, to treat others the way you would like to be treated, and let this be a guide to follow. Avoid negative and hateful influences that may lead you down the wrong path. If someone is spreading harmful messages about Iran and America relations, stop following them on social media, and choose to find speakers that promote positive thinking instead. Enrich your life by learning about other people groups and develop an appreciation for different viewpoints and cultures.
Not only should you be mindful of your thoughts and emotions but your actions as well. Never engage in violence. Apologize when you need to, give forgiveness when someone else wrongs you, and learn to let small things go. Don’t be reactive and mind your temper. If you have a conflict with someone seek mediation or resolution. By being a peaceful person you will not only enrich the connections you make within your community, but you will set a very good example for others to follow.
If a political issue is concerning you, consider writing, phoning, or talking with your local government. Handle all interactions with a polite, respectful, and calm manor. You could organize a community group that speaks on citizens behalf, or enacts positive change in your city.
Volunteer. Anyone can talk about making the world a better place, but few actually try to do it. Bake your police officers cookies, clean graffiti off a wall, fix a city park fence, or tutor under privileged children after school. By taking steps to better your home town you are making the world a better place, right where you live.
National and Global Circles
When you want to increase the scope of your influence you can consider reaching national and global circles. If you have a platform like social media, blogs, or publications, use them to educate others about peace making efforts, like United States and Iran relations. Become informed about what is going on with political parties throughout the world, and think beyond your own front door.
While complex situations like iran america relations may not be fixed overnight, by becoming a promoter of political peace you can help move the world forward toward positive change.
